PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

12) HAVE FUN: This is the whole point of it all.

    Throttle Quadrant

What do y'all use for the throttle quadrant? I recently acquired the Thrustmaster Boeing Yolk and Quadrant, and while the yolk is OK, the throttle is crap. Not even re-warmed crap, just absolute utter crap. Cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap plastic crap. A far cry from their Cougar and Warthog offerings, I'm surprised Boeing allowed their name to be put on it.

I use the Honeycomb Bravo, mainly because it is modular. I have no experience with the Thrustmaster quadrant, so I cannot make a comparison between the two. The controls are a bit smaller than the real thing, but the construction seems fairly solid, and I have not had any significant issues with it.

I have the Throttletek Boeing 747-400 throttle along with the Throttletek Boeing 787 throttle. Also, PMDG requires you to sign your posts with your first and last name, which you agreed to when you created an account here. Failure to do so can result in posts being removed without warning, which would make it difficult for us to do anything if that happens. In this thread we have a few resources for you to use with your forum signature. If anyone comes up with some good high quality signature blocks that you'd like to share with other users, please let us know and we may add them here! Think a bit might be a bit of an understatement. I tried it a few times, and my hand just goes completely over it. They're smaller than even the CH throttle quadrant I used initially and the GoFlight TQ6 I used prior.

How do you like the Throttletek? Boutique shops can be a total fail or complete win. I'll completely splurge on the 767 module when a good 757 model comes out. But for $1700, I'd expect them to at least be back driven. :O

They're nice, but unfortunately not motorized.

I have the Boeing throttle quadrants, I think they are fine for the price. They are working great for me.

I have a whole slew of controls, including the TM Boeing throttles (x2) since a single 3 axes module is utterly useless. They work well for what the goal is, but yes, feel much cheaper than the metal offerings of the TM warthog or PFC. Even the honeycomb bravo feels much more rigid but the lever sweep angles isn't the same. FWIW, all the "Boeing" TM products are NOT 1:1 scale despite what they may advertise. But again, to be able to swap between 4 throttles, a speed brake lever and flap lever and then 2 throttles, speed brake lever and flap lever, you can't get cheaper than the TM Boeing setup. If you are committed to a dedicated 737 set up, there are many offerings of the aisle stand that have been around for decades. They're just 1000+ euros typically.

I use the Honeycomb Bravo, but with the Prodesksim replacement throttles, flap- and speedbrake levers. These are indeed bigger than the standard ones plus have gated slots for flaps and speedbrake.
THIS IS THE FULLY NEW DUAL ACTION DESIGN INCLUDING BOTH DETENTS AND SPRING LOADED MECHANISM. IT HAS AUDIBLE FEEDBACK AS WELL AS HAPTIC FEEDBACK. Whether you fly VR Or not, these flaps are a game changer. You cannot accidentally bump them! They resemble the actual aircraft mechanism with the added functionality of deten

I looked at that product and it seems pretty good. The only thing that I would love to see them include are the gates on the Flap 1 and 15 positions. Other than that it looks like they did a good job with it.

            there are gates at every position, 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30 and 40.

Those are detents. The gates that I am referring to are the tabs above the 1 and 15 positions that prevent you from moving straight past those detents.

Kevin's last name is indeed contained in his signature. It's a bit difficult to make out, but it is there.

I see. That's awfully obfuscated. Kinda defeats the purpose? I will of course, start signing my posts with invisible text.

As Tim said, my full name is, in fact, in my signature, so I'm not actually violating any rules. Nice try, though.

Just my 0.02: I had the Logitech/Saitek Yoke/Throttle Quad for 1.5 years, which I thought "wasn't too bad". I originally decided to get just the Boeing TM Yoke last week, but saw that the Yoke + Quad was only $50 more, so decided to get the combo, which arrived this last Tuesday. I'm glad I did.

The comparison between the Logitech And TM Yoke is like going from a crappy 80s Chrysler K-Car with worn steering/suspension parts to a brand-new luxury car. I didn't know what I was missing. Takeoff rotation is much smoother, and landings are much more precise: on day one I was able to nail the Jackson Hole Landing Challenge (CJ4) with ease. Plus I love the right-thumb joystick for panning my cockpit view...so much easier than reaching for a mouse.

Regarding the Throttle Quadrant, yeah, it's not built as solidly as the yoke, but it's a reasonable engineering tradeoff IMHO, and it's still better than the Logitech TQ. It's nice having reverse thrust levers (vice the front detent on the Logitech). The thumb buttons on the throttle knob sides are great for TOGA and A/T disconnect. It would have been cool to have four levers instead of three to have spoiler/two throttles/flaps, but I'll use my old Logitech Multi-Panel for flaps. The worst thing about this is the knob for choosing IAS/MACH - HDG - ALT , which has a horrible crunchy sound and feel. However, I have buttons mapped for those functions, so don't really need this knob, which is way too slow to change values anyways.

I've not tried any high-end TQs, but I do know that the Boeing TM Quad is far better than the Logitech, and worth the $50 extra with they Yoke/TQ combo.

I'm very happy with the whole Thrustmaster TCA Boeing yoke & throttles. Everything working as it should and the reverse thrust working as it should by that I mean as I bring back the reverse thrust lever and advance the throttle levers forward it simulates the reverse thrust levers in the 737 on screen, looks cool. In fact I thought the 737 would be harder to configure than the Asobo 787 as the yoke/throttle combo is supposed to be the 787 replica. However the PMDG 737 is now working just fine for me BUT the Asobo 787.... I still can't get the reverse thrust!!! Lol
