ILS not capturing GS

Whenever I use ILS, sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it only captures the localizer and never captures the gs and after a while of no gs being captured, the plane starts doing weird things like pulling up, accelerating and I end up having to turn ap off and fly it myself. What could I be doing wrong?

Are you trying to capture the GS from above? I’m not sure with the 737 whether the system logic lets you do it or not but I suspect not. Either way, it’s generally frowned upon because it can lead to a situation where you’re endlessly chasing the GS and end up with a completely unstable approach.

You can select that in the options, intercept from above allowed yes or no. I think default is no.

You need to be within .17° of the GS (half a dot) for 2 seconds for the GS to capture. If you're above, below or right on it makes no difference.
We intercept from above regularly, it's no problem if done correctly.

Given the many things I was doing at the time of typing, I would have had to pull up YouTube, go find his channel, grab the link, and post it here, and I was already in the middle of helping my friend with somebody. It was faster for me to just type his channel name.

Did you go around and try again?

Do the same airport(s) / ILS's that do not capture G/S always fail to capture G/S?

It was at HKMO runway 21 and no, it doesn't always not capture so I definitely could've done something wrong as I'm new to flight sims and especially new to ILS
Don't have any screenshots and I don't have a video, and i'm not sure how to get a video of it cause I don't know how to replicate the issue

This happens to me almost every time. I've been simming for years with many different aircraft and know how ILS works. Something is off, and it's not related to a specific airport as it has happened on at least a dozen different airports for me. Next time I will take a video.

Yes for me. BTW I think the ILS situation is also complicated by problems with the Auto Throttle where it goes crazy during the approach and puts everything out of whack. This is pretty well noted in various posts.

I haven't gotten the GS to capture reliably on the 737-700 since the release of the AAU1 beta. I made a flight a couple of hours ago from KJFK in New York to KADW near Washington, DC. The flight went flawlessly until I attempted to intercept the GS during landing. The VNAV had brought me to the perfect waypoint and altitude and speed. The GS indicator and the VNAV indicator were literally on top of each other. Both were dead on target. But the GS was never actually activated and captured when I hit the APPR button. The other plane I fly regularly -- the Longitude -- doesn't suffer this problem. I've been using the 737 since its release. And I've been intercepting glide slopes for decays. I never experienced this problem until very recently.

Did you arm VORLOC and let it capture the localizer before arming the APP mode? I’ve found that process to reliably give me ILS capture since day 1, including flying in every build of the AAU1 beta since release.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this. I have changed several in configuration, technique, ac update etc and I haven't had the issue the last few flights. Not sure if that's permanent or not, but it's nice to have nonetheless.
