PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

Cargo Capacity BDSF

    Cargo Capacity BDSF

    Hey Guys,

    I hope someone of you can help me with this:
    I have found on a Link to a SimBrief Airframe for the PMDG 737-700 BDSF.
    In the settings there it has a cargo capacity of aprox. 18800kgs which is quite accurate to the reality (

    When I create flights with SimBrief I usually have a look how much cargo is planned so I can put it into the FMC on the Ground Services tab with the cargo pellet loader.
    Now two problems occur where I need your help:

    1. The Airplane is always pre-loaded with around 11000kgs. How can I accomplish that the aircraft will be initialized with 0kgs in the cargo holds?
    2. When I enter a number above 12583kgs the FMC runs into an error "Reduced to Capacity" and sets it to this exact limit of 12583kgs. How can I accomplish to change the maximum cargo capacity to the mor realistic 18800kgs?

    in the FMC under the PMDG setting, you can save the currant "state" and also pick a "state" that will load by default.

    i.e. load your preferred state, change the payload to 0, save the state to a new name, then set that new named state as the default.

    as for 18800kg (~41435lb)or the gross ~45000lb payload (inc ULD tare weight [~40000lb revinew payload + ~3900lb to ~4700lb of ULD's]), they seam to think its "volume" limited (yes that's right "volume" limited) i kid you not, this is despite, with the internal volume of ULD's and with the lower bulk cargo hold volume it would only take cargo of <12lb per cubic foot to hit ~42000lb and still be under MZFW by the time you have added the tare weight of the ULD's and have stayed within the floor station load limits for the reduced weight 3-strap 9G barrier failed limits for the main deck.

    at the weekend I will have the time again to yet again replay to PMDG support to keep hiding behind the notion of "volume" limited crap and the but we have technical docs standardised reply, despite the fact I too and working from FAA/IAI tech docs and PMDG's OWN cargo volumetric-mass (lb per cubic foot) for the lower bulk hold space as the notion of lb/ft3 that should be applied to the ULD's too, and the correct legitimate ULD's too, unlike the ones they depict.

      All airplanes are limited to their certified maximum zero fuel weight (MZFW), in the PMDG B737-700BDSF the MZFW is 52600 Kg and its operational empty weight (OEW) is about 35000 Kg, so the maximum payload that yo can carry is 17600 Kg. If you add 2122 on fwd cargo plus 2903 on aft cargo plus 12583 on main deck you will get 17608 Kg which is the maximum payload that you can carry, and to carry that maximum it has to be distributed among all those 3 cargo areas.

        other than the fact the MZFW of the BDSF is 121700lb (~55202kg), with an OEW of ~76700lb (~34790kg) going by both the IAI, Boeing and FAA, and PMDG own statement within the flight_model.cfg.

        If you want to look at Alaska Air Cargo they claim a revinew cargo capacity of ~40000lb (~18144kg) as a maximum (between the main deck and the bulk lower holds), which works out at 43900lb to 44600lb (19912kg to 20230kg) gross when you add the tare weight of the ULD;s in a standard 10 station main deck config.

        other BDSF operator's are claiming gross (including ULD tare weight) payloads also in excess of 44000lb when hauling revinew cargo of sufficient mass that the internal volume of ULD's and the bulk lower holds are not the limiting factor while staying within the maximum station loads and ULD GW limits.

        even using PMDGs own lb\ft3 from the lower holds and applying it the legitimate ULD internal volumes while staying within the reduced station load limits (3 strap) for a 9G load barrier failure as per IAI/FAA tech documents you still end up with >41000lb (>18597kg) gross payload.

        I do not get where the 737-700 MZFW of 116,000 lbs (52,600 kg) comes from. Per the TCDS A16WE (page 24), the MZFW is 121,700 lbs (55,200 kg).

      Oh are right. I just did look at the upper cargo hold itself. I somehow thought the cargo page in the FMC is only for like luggage on the passenger version. But of course they would pack cargo into there as well. All capacity limits combined it's almost the 18k kgs I'm looking for.

      And also did it work with saving the panel state and the fixed aircraft config to "continue" a sector after closing the simulator and continue at another time

      So for me: Problems solved. Thanks guys
