PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

[06APR19] Your Weekend Update from PMDG!

    Captains,

This week at PMDG we have been making very good progress on the NG3, and we are creeping ever closer to commencing beta testing. In a perfect world, we will see beta testing for NG3 commence during the last few days of April, or possibly early May. When we activate the testing teams, it is highly likely that we will not embargo them at all, and you will be able to see what NG3 is all about just as soon as they pick their jaws up off the floor, regain their composure and return to the keyboard.

PMDG Global Flight Operations has been having a tough couple of weeks- as we are beginning to test some of the API that will be handed to partner developers who wish to create content for the Global Flight Operations universe. This has lead inevitably to a slowdown on items that feel like forward progress to the development team- but it is a necessary part of the development process and we are starting to see things pick up steam again.

We are about to bring some livery painters in on the PMDG Global Flight Operations environment to see what they think, and to get their input on how we can best support them in their work. They will be the first "outsiders" to see what Global Flight Operations is about and we are pretty keen to hear their reaction.

Yes- their impressions will be under embargo- so I'll just have to tell you how amazing they thought it was, and how they felt badly that all of you are missing out on it.

The 747 product line has another update coming in the next few days. Lots and lots of cleanup details as we continue to work our way through all of the details and service reports that we have compiled for fixing. Work has begun to upgrade navdata handling, improve LNAV and the F/D. Testing is taking place right now on an update we hope to release on Tue/Wed- and then we will likely have another update shortly afterward that will include weather radar compatibility with REX, for those who use that product.

In an unusual twist, I have a bit of real-world flying information for you also! We are working with our partners at Aerosoft to coordinate a day to bring the PMDG DC-3 to Paderborn. We are still working out the details- but we are hoping to give PMDG and Aerosoft customers a chance to see the airplane up-close, talk with a bunch of the PMDG team who will be present, maybe have some lunch, share some laughs and some friendship- and if you are lucky, go home with a nice oil spot on your shirt from having stood too close to her when she was parked.

I'll have more information on that next week, I hope- just as soon as we get the schedule sussed out with Aerosoft.

We are preparing to make live a flight tracking page specific to the DC-3 that will allow you to see her in motion all the way across the atlantic and to europe. Even though we will be crossing the ocean under instrument flight rules, we will be out of radar contact for about 90% of the journey- so we have installed a satellite tracking system and will set up a site to allow you to follow along.

We MIGHT even do a question and answer session live via satellite messaging with the flight crew while we are cruising across the open water portions of the journey if there is interest!

Okay- hope you are all having a nice weekend- we will have that 747 update wrapped up for you shortly!

    Thanks for the update RSR.

Let's say there is a delay in GFO (for whatever reason) will that delay the NG3 in any shape or form?

Also, the "next" update for the 744...did you mean we will be able fly RF legs (RNP approaches) or is it just some general code cleanup?

    Cheers!

      Robert,

I'm waiting for the "Astrodome" on your DC-3 so you can tell us "CEL NAV" stories about crossing the Atlantic.

Thanks for the update Robert, looking forward to all this new gadgetry! I for one will be tracking your flight across the pond but unfortunately will not make Paderborn☹️😕! Good luck with the planning and execution, by the way, any chance for a Pmdg DC-3 for the sim world?

Still loving every moment of the NGX. Had the right engine flame out during cruise and watched the auto start perform a cross bleed start at FL380. left me smiling for hours. Cant wait for the NG3.

                          Robert,

thanks for the update! I‘ll definitely head for one of the destinations of Clipper Tabitha May!

One question please, I haven‘t read about an Aerosoft Chart implementation of the LIDO system as well as their navdata into the EFB for a long time.. Can you tell if that‘s still planned to be done? I personally absolutely don‘t like the jeppesen charts and plan to cancel my navigraph charts subscription...

                          Cheers

PMDG have hyped up the NG3 way too much. If it isn't the Max series then I'm pretty sure people will be disappointed. 😂

It may contain the MAX at some point, but Robert already said (on Avsim) that the NG3 is replacing the NGX product line, so it'll be the NG initially.

Robert giving dates! on a release...Robert!...well since this is a new home lets hope this starts a new era on, When Roberts says .....unlike till now if Robert says date =date x4 add x weeks = If your release dates refected your pilot's career you would not have made it through PPL in a C152

Great news on the NG 3 a must buy if there ever was one.

I think the "established" rumor is that the NG3 will primarily be the NG series (cause... you know... NG3), with the MAX arriving later as an add-on. Makes sense. Even though the MAX is meant to basically be the same plane from a pilot perspective, everything about it is changed. Different exterior model, different VC model, different systems.

P.S. This is my uninformed opinion. Don't @ me.

Love it! Kinda silly question, but is the NG3 gonna come out for FSX as well? And please do nor try to convince me to go to P3D..

                                                Sincerely, Thomas van de Wetering

They stopped development for FSX, and rightly so. Antiquated platform that has reached the end of a glorious life, and is now due for well deserved rest. And even though you said i shouldn't, i will: Upgrade to P3D. You won't regret it at all.
