PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. [09AUG20] PMDG 737NGXu Cargo Expansion Package - Pre-Release Announcement

    Captains,

We have quite a bit going on in the background at PMDG, some of which you have seen, some of which is just machinery, but all of which is taking us in the direction of new product lines, new product expansion, new platforms and of course, new airplanes.

Work continues on PMDG 737NG3 for Microsoft Flight Simulator but that work is painfully slow. We are still anticipating sometime between 4Q20-2Q21 due to the need for changes in the MSFS platform and tooling that I detailed in my update last weekend.

We have recently added developers to the team who are focused on PMDG Global Flight Operations and we have begun to roll new functionality out to our small, but growing test program for this exciting new product line. We have discussions taking place over the next few days about how to begin scaling in customer users, and we are looking forward to finally having users onboard to see what we have been working on and what is planned for this new service.

Then on the Prepar3D side of the house we are are just about set with a strategy to get the 777-200ER package moving (finally!) and of simultaneously putting a 737 BBJ/BBJ2 package into testing sometime late this week or early next week.

Most exciting this week, is the impending release of our new PMDG 737NGXu Cargo Expansion, which is sort of timely since global air travel is suddenly putting such a high premium on airborne delivery- so we thought you might enjoy a few shots of this product as we prepare it for release this week!

    What You Get:
The PMDG 737NGXu Cargo Expansion comes with three new aircraft in five total variants:
    • 737-700 BDSF (BeDeck Special Freighter) with blended winglets
    • 737-800 BDSF with either blended winglets or split scimitar winglets
    • 737-800BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter) with either blended winglets or split scimitar winglets.
(For those who may wonder, a 737-700 BDSF with split scimitars will be added if such a beast appears in the wild...)

Each of these airplanes is fitted out with proper cargo ground handling equipment, animated cargo presence, cargo weight and balance features in the Electronic Flight Bag, specially modified ground operations handling for cargo operations, and of course complete animation controls and system logic changes relative to the cargo airplanes. (Main cargo deck power, cargo smoke/fire suppression/etc)

With each of the airplanes, we have given particular attention to detail differences between the BeDeck freighters and the Boeing converted freighters, as there are some subtle differences from door location/sizing to changes in the configuration of the aircraft liners and many other small facets that you have always come to appreciate in your PMDG products.

We have already made these airplanes available in the PMDG Global Flight Operations universe and they are being operated by our testing teams using many of the nearly two dozen cargo liveries we are providing to you for free through PMDG Operations Center 2.0.

As the 737 begins to become more popular as an inter-city cargo hauler, this package gives you all you could want to jump into these operations and experience the complexities of cargo operations within your simming world!

    Some Shots with Ground Operations:
We have overhauled the ground operations aspects of the simulation in order to provide a realistic cargo experience and for those who use products like GSX, you will also find it simple to integrate GSX functionality just as you have done with other PMDG products.

Glad the 200er is still being created/in the works. When I bought the 777 back in 2013 day one I was always hopeful the 200er would make its way into whatever the current simulator was.
7 years later its finally coming to fruition.

I am loving the -800BCF and have been flying a lot for Amazon Air (the aircraft are still painted Prime Air but Amazon now reserves Prime Air for drone service) on flights operated by Southern Air (SOO) and Sun Country (SCX).

These are a few screenies I captured yesterday evening on a KBDL (the new LatinVFR airport scenery is very nice) mission to their hub at KMSP:

The good news is that FLAi already has model matching for the Prime Air on Vatsim based on the correct call sign numbers for Prime Air.

Beside the Alaska Air Cargo and Prime Air liveries will there be any other liveries released? A couple of popular ones are West Atlantic, SpiceXpress, Atran Airlines and single FedEx Operated by WA.

Even if it was, it is incredibly rare for any business to sell brand new products at sale prices.

I agree, wishful thinking. Orbx and other Devs do this all the time when they have a sale but state the sale does not apply to the latest release. This allows them to release a product when its ready and not have to wait until the sale is over. Besides the cargo expansion is only $30. I hope PMDG doesn't make us wait until the sale is over on the 14th before release.

yes, but it's not totally the same. The market dynamics have changed incredibly considering you have what appears to be everyones brand new sim coming out in a week. I realize the 737 won't be available right away for MSFS. But spending 30 right now on a cargo only addon for the 737 knowing we will have to buy it again so soon is a little tough. Seems like some developers are offering bridge deals and some aren't. There choice to make I guess.

Buy it again in 6 month to year? I mean its $30 less than a tank of gas in most places

I spend more on gas for my Tahoe or my new hobby of collecting 1:400 Diecast Airliners. $30 is a small price to pay for an addons I've been waiting some time for. I fly mainly cargo on Vatsim so for me it's a day one purchase. Beside it will be sometime around "4Q20-2Q21" before it's out for 2020.

I get where you guys are coming from. But I fly pax way more than cargo. Also the shelf life issue. So to me I don't necessarily value something like this as much as others. But it looks cool no doubt.

Agree. I really like the current PMDG liveries. And I get the sense I'd probably be happier flying for PMDG than for some of the real-world operators.

If you have any interest in cargo ops, I think you are going to have fun with this one.
