PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

12) HAVE FUN: This is the whole point of it all.

[04JUL20] PMDG 737NGXu and PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II Updates Released <<IMPORTANT INFO>>

    Captains,

Just in time for your weekend flying, we have released updates for both the PMDG 737NGXu and PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II product lines.

Please do not skip reading this message, as there is important information contained in here that will prevent you from breaking your PMDG installations. You will benefit from reading that information.

PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II:
This is a general update with some tweaks/updates/improvements and changes, most of them specific to Prepar3d V5. This update is a micro-update, so to get this version simply launch the Operations Center, go to aircraft updates and update from there.

PMDG 737 NGXu Base Package & Expansion Package Changes:
The largest change to this product is that we have added compatibility with Prepar3D v5. (P5D)

Most of you who are P5D users are quite comfortable with the platform now and you will find that we have eliminated a bunch of CTD inducing problems that arose in this product line with the advent of P5D. P5D is still an "in development" platform that is still going through significant transformation, which makes lighting and color matching an ongoing game with the changes in the platform, but we are finally able to push this update to you after having massaged things to work correctly with Lockheed Martin's HotFix 2.

There are still some quirks in the LM lighting, reflection and shading model, but we anticipate them working these out over time, and we are also certain that subsequent updates will be necessary as the platform grows and changes. We are here to do that- and we look forward to the continued maturity of this platform.

    INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the 737:
This is a full installer change because we are adding the new P5D platform to the installer. To get this update you must log in to your account here at PMDG and download the installer. We recommend uninstalling your previous installation, then installing this new one fresh from the download. NOTE: There is no reason to return your license key during this process. The license key will happily remain on the operating system and will automatically recognize your new installation when you are done. Save yourself that step.

[Edit at 0400Z/04JUL] Something I forgot to mention earlier:
One of the things that has held up release of the 737 for P5D is our struggle to get the cockpit and various airplane reflection profiles working properly in the various iterations of LM's HotFix2. Through this process we have been sifting feedback out of the LM beta and developer forums in an effort to solve some of the issues that we found. Many of them could be solved, some could not. Some of the more offensive problems we found were things such as horrific blue reflections on metal switches on the flight deck. When pushing that feedback to LM, the reply was approximately: "We know. This will go away with the 5.1 update."

For this reason- we elected not to spend a month and a half pulling all PBR out of the cockpit, only to release the update in time for 5.1 to drop and then have to spend a month and a half putting it back in.

So some of you might run into this... You can adjust it by turning the Experimental Atmospherics off. Don't hesitate to leave your feedback on your experience with P5D in the LM forum- as we think they very much want to hear how these things impact your simming experience.

We are all pinning hopes on the 5.1 release, but it is worth noting that reflective materials in the upcoming MSFS are really sublime... Really really sublime...

    VERY Important Installation Note #1:
Earlier today we did some security updates that inadvertently caused a problem with Operations Center being able to call home. We have updated the Operations Center, and YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

    1) Navigate to this directory: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\PMDG\PMDG Operations Center
    2) Double click on OpsCenterUpdater.exe

This will pull the latest update from our system and get you the very latest Operations Center, returning you to full operation.

    VERY Important Installation Note #2:
In preparation for the opening of PMDG Global Flight Operations, we have been doing a bit of background work that caused us to discover a way we could accidentally break your entire PMDG fleet of airplanes all in one swift motion. To reduce this risk, we made some changes to the GFO dll included in your 737 and your 747. The kick here is that in this update cycle, if you have both the 747 and the 737NGXu installed, YOU MUST UPDATE THEM BOTH.

Go download the new 737 and install it. Get the 747 micro update and install it. Do this- and you will have no issues.

If you fail to follow these instructions and you only update ONE of the two products, the other one will stop working. WE WARNED YOU!

If you only have one of them installed, this notice doesn't apply to you, obviously...

Okay- that should cover the big stuff... I'm going to grab a burger, then head back to the 777 hangar...

Just a small thing - in the OC for the 737 it says that 2.91.0387 is installed but that 2.91.0122 is latest...

Thanks for the update. Just wondering if the autobrake issue referenced in the following was resolved with this update:

            https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-fo...7709#post47709

I'm not seeing it in the list unless I'm blind, and I'm not home until exactly less than two weeks, so can't check myself.

Kevin: Change lists are not inclusive. They have never been. I mentioned in 9 other threads (that i could count with a quick search) that this was addressed in the next update... so..... yes. - RSR

Kevin, the change list is generated from closed bug items but not all problems that the developers resolved on put on the bug list.

Just updated the NGXu and 747, and I have the same thing:

                    737-800/900 NGXu Base
                    2.91.0387 installed
                    2.91.0122 latest

Maybe just a small bug of OC2, but worth making the point 😅

Dan- We are concurrently updating multiple products across multiple platforms. We don't cure every single item reported on every update. We handle things as we deem them to be important and/or reasonable given the value/benefit and availability of developer time. We are trying not to engage in lighting changes until Lockheed Martin settles themselves with P5D because we have to make changes on three platforms every time they change just P5D... sooooooo... patience. We may get to it eventually. - RSR

Installed and as soon as I scroll through the virtual cockpit (a key) I get "This device (NVIDIA GeForce RTX2070) stopped working for the following reason DXGU_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG."

Then the sim crashes. Any ideas? How I can get around this, only happens in the PMDG 737NGXu

Scott- I recommend you dig into that with google. The issue is Lockheed Martins, as has been well documented by other users and is common across a broad range of products. If google doesn't help- reach out to our tech support and they can point you in the direction of some posts and materials that *might* help you solve it. Hope you can get it worked out- as things like this are frustrating as heck... I think P5D really should have stayed in the incubator for a while longer... -RSR

I had this issue. I had to turn down my graphics I have the same RTX card. I think Flightsimmer has the same card as well I would check out his youtube channel as he has his P3D settings ever since changing to those settings I haven't had a single VRAM/DXGU_Error

Decided not to re-install the NGXU into v4 and go v5 only.

Still showing up in Operations Centre livery manager under v4 (I still have the 777 for v4). Is this normal?

Now see here, Alex... You will never grow up to be a pilot if you can count all the way to 14... We pilots can only count to 4 if we get the 747 type. Everything else is just 1, 2 or 3. :-p - RSR

                              Captains,

I just added an important late edit in the post above... Look just below the change list for the 737, if you didn't notice it on the first read. Sorry- I was hungry and dinner smelled so good I was distracted.

idk why Captain why people dont look at how Lockheed released V5 as a "public beta" persay during the midst of Covid19 as bad. (considering how many people wana beta) I think it helped them out hugely minus the stress of the developers, its nice to hear that they are fixing everything from the community to the developers to max out V5 for a greater V6. ..yes i just said V6 because the Hype, and certain pictures, videos and info give me red flags on Fs2020. just remember everything so far in 2020 has been absolutely a mess.

MS2020 could be the final disappointment of the year! Lol.

Anyway, thanks so much PMDG looking great in v5

                                    Thank you for the updates.

I have reported this previously but it is still the same. I have both P3Dv4 and v5 installed. I only currently use v4 (v5 is as out of the box and I have no add on’s installed).

I only have my PMDG products installed in v4. But, when I run the micro update it installs into v5 even though I do not have the product (or any product) installed in v5.

Can the logic of the PMDG Operations Centre please be changed to check to see if you actually have a product installed in the Simulator? As it is, it is updating “fresh air” in v5 as the Queen is not installed (or anything else).

It should not be adding files to a Simulator where the product it is updating is not installed.

                                    Kind regards,

Mark- Yeah- that shouldn't be happening. We have discussed this a bit internally this morning and we'll see if we can't figure out why and push a fix for it. - RSR

I have just loaded in the 747-400 and though it works well, i am getting these VC black texture loading times which last 3 seconds before it loads in the normal VC. I have also noticed there is NO outside sounds?
