PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

12) HAVE FUN: This is the whole point of it all.

[18MAY20] Micro Update for PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II product line released

    Captains,

A few moments ago we released a very small update for the PMDG Queen of the Skies II (specifically the 747-400 base package installation) to cure a small hiccup in ground steering that was overlooked in the weekend release. It was creating some drama for folks landing in strong crosswinds, so we felt it was important to make a quick fix for it.

No other changes were made, unless of course you notice a huge improvement in frame rates, in which case- yes, of course we optimized the entire code using proprietary techniques developed only in the secret recesses of PMDGHQ.

You can grab latest update by running the Operations Center and then following the menus to Aircraft Updates.

If you get to that page and it tells you "too old to update" it means you still need to update your installation using the new installer, which gives you Build 3.01.0300. From 0300 you can then use the micro updater to get the latest build, which is 0304.

Thanks! Lots of new liveries as well apparently. Any chance you can mentions the airlines that got new liveries? Seems like Delta, United, Virgin Atlantic, Cargolux and UPS got some new liveries at least now that I just scrolled through

I'm thinking they're all going to get new ones eventually in preparation for GFO.

Outstanding, thank you Rob and team!

Great to see the updater live up to its purpose!

Cool! Might be a very dumb question, but will there be liveries for the whole fleet of each airline? Cause that would be alot of liveries, haha. I know you're not a PMDG insider, I'm just speculating.

Thanks for the fix. MX was getting really tired to replacing the gear every time I landed in a cross wind cause that bug would make me veer off the edge of the runway.

Amazing what a small insect can make a million pound piece of metal do, init?

I take it if we were using Default in the previous update then we shouldn't see any changes on this one?

Again, OC2 is updating my p3dv4 folder despite me not having the PMDG 747 installed there. Its creating folders and putting files on it.
I only have the 747 installed into v5. I dont know if it is successfully updating my v5 install.

Working on liveries and the volume of aircraft available is one of the thing we are sorting out with GFO. And yes when we get to the 777 it will put a whole lot more aircraft in there.

& that might include a "current livery" for cathay, one of leading operators of the 77W ????

given it's been many years, me wonders .....

Will it be possible to add plain white "wet lease" style liveries for as many of the aircrafts as possible? am thinking plain white clean and plain white dirty.
and thanks for the continued updates, nice to see the NOTAM feature working on the OC2.

                          Hi Robert,

I am not seeing any update at all in the ops centre. Is this update only for Prepar3d users? I only have FSX installed.

FSX development has been stopped. We are not planning to issue any updated for FSX platform as we have said in the past.

I'm thinking they're going to be doing most, if not all, of them, at least for the PMDG planes. I don't know if they would touch planes belonging to other developers. The main idea of doing that is suppose you decide to fly Atlanta to Tokyo in a Delta 747-400, say N661US, as the last guy who used it brought it there. Once you land in Tokyo and check the plane back in, somebody else might grab N661US in Tokyo where you left it and fly to Los Angeles. The next guy might grab N661US in Los Angeles where the previous person left it and fly to Shanghai. I think you get the idea. This will also test how good you can do a proper pre-flight since the last guy might have left a switch in the wrong position whilst in a rush to get out of the plane.

Yes, you basically take over the aircraft as it was left, just like in real life, which makes it very realistic. And yes, only provided it's either the 737, 747 and 777 that PMDG will make liveries of course. I've also heard that you will be able to upvote or downvote people's reputation, so if they for instance left the aircraft in a wrong state, you could downvote that person.

And when does this (GFO) go live? Or is it available now? It seem like we've talking about this for years along with the PMDG full motion simulator at their HQ. Is it (GFO) a free add-on? or a pay add-on? I just can't get the scoop on this.

Yeah, that's why they need all those liveries for all the different registrations. As for the reputation, I think that's more so if somebody decided to take a plane out and leave it in the middle of Antarctica or the desert or something. I suppose you could downvote the person if the plane was left in the wrong state, but that seems to be a bit trivial to me at that point. If you follow the checklists and do a proper pre-flight, you would catch these things anyway.

Still undergoing beta testing as far as I'm aware, and it will be payware.

I don't know about subscription based, but I do know it will be payware.

It was mentioned some time back that there will be a "fee". I interpret that as some sort of subscription, but I might be wrong.
