PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

12) HAVE FUN: This is the whole point of it all.

    [08NOV19] Announcing PMDG 737NGXu for Prepar3D v4

    Announcing the PMDG 737NGXu for Prepar3D v4!

    Captains,

I have had some coffee, and I remembered what else it was that I wanted to tell you about…

As I described in my other post, we made the decision earlier this year to realign the PMDG 737NG3 product in order to make it available only in the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator. At the time this decision was made, the NG3 product itself was very far along in the development cycle, but it was clear to all of us that making any pretense about having NG3 release in all platforms from FSX to P3D and Microsoft Flight Simulator was going to hobble our development team and potentially decrease the overall quality of the product.

We have been in this market for decades and we are very proud of our product quality and our long term relationship with all of you- and on our side there was a very real concern that some users would want to enjoy NG3 in the FSX or P3D environments while waiting for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Since our pricing model treats each simulation platform independently, and since the new MSFS development process would wind up having to be independent of the FSX/Prepar3D development process, this would put a large burden on our development process and a large cost customers to make the transition to the new MSFS at a later date.

We all know that a big change is coming, and *as simmers* we are just as excited about moving to the new platform as you. So we decided to do something innovative and unexpected that would bring you some fun from all of the work we have invested into NG3, while also helping to ease the transition into the upcoming simulation platform.

Meet the new PMDG 737NGXu for Prepar3D v4!

    NGXu_high_res.jpg

PMDG 737NGXu is a ground-up rebuild of our highly acclaimed, award winning NGX simulation that was released more than eight years ago in 2011. Rebuilt to capitalize on the Prepar3D v4.4 (and later) platform, NGXu has been rewritten, rebuilt and retooled to include not only changes in simulation technology since 2011, but changes in the 737 fleet that have been added since we released our NGX software all those years ago.

PMDG 737Xu offers greatly improved systems simulation, new features, added technology and tons of new capability to provide the ultimate 737 simulation experience.
    • All new system simulation, utilizing the latest PMDG system simulation engine.
    • Enhanced flight physics.
    • Addition of rigid body physics affecting flex/vibration propagation to wing and tail surfaces.
    • Improved flight control systems.
    • Electronic Flight Bag with Navigraph Integration.
    • High resolution cockpit displays

    • Sounds balanced and layered using advanced studio technologies in order to provide the most lifelike representation possible of the soundscape on a 737 airliner.
    • Enhanced PMDG Sound Engine for immersive audio experience on the flight deck.
    • New PMDG Operations Center 2.0
    • Entirely New virtual cockpit built just for Prepar3D with hundreds of new details including high resolution textures and PBR support.
    • Dynamic lighting throughout, including panel floods, chart lights, map lights, CB panel illumination, Grimes lights and dome lights.
    • Many new equipment options reflecting changes to the global 737 fleet.
    • Optional auxiliary fuel tanks/panel. (for use in 900ER and subsequent BBJ/BBJ2 offerings)
    • Automatic eyepoint adjustment for HGS and non HGS views (with the ability to control and disable from FMS)
    • New LED external lighting options for all fleet types., including the implementation of pulse lighting.
    • Entirely new exterior models with more details and high resolution 4096x4096 textures.
    • PBR enabled out of the box, each surface has accurate reflective properties, especially on bare metal surfaces where rivets have a different reflective property compared to a polished surface.

    ...and much much more!

    NGXu-screen-5.jpg

These are just a few of the obvious highlights, but there is significantly more to this full-rebuild of your favorite PMDG short-hauler. We have made nearly 2,000 other changes, adaptations, fixes and alterations to improve our already well loved 737 simulation propelling it forward to become the most capable simulation available outside of flying the airplane yourself.

PMDG 737NGXu will release with a base package that includes the 737-800, 737-900 and 737-900ER airplanes each with accurate flight models for standard wings, blended winglets and split scimitar winglets. Expansion packages will roll out progressively after the base package and will include the 737-600, 737-700, BBJ and BBJ2 models. Additional packages may also be added subject to development time availability.

We are currently evaluating release of the expansion package to cover our simulation of 737MAX. This is a complex topic that we will not address at this time.
Pricing for this product line will be in line with our previous market offerings.

Okay- so what about pricing? Like us, we suspect that many of you are eager to get your hands on a new, modern, updated 737 to fly *right now* but that you are also concerned about planning ahead for the transition to the new Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We don’t want you to choose. We think you should do both.

Upon release of the PMDG 737NGXu Base Package, we will offer, for a limited time, that purchasers of the new PMDG 737NGXu for Prepar3D will receive 100% credit on their purchase toward the purchase of PMDG 737NG3 for Microsoft Flight Simulator when that product releases sometime next year.*

Yup. You read that correctly. For a limited time after PMDG 737NGXu release, we will offer full credit on your purchase of the NGXu base package toward your purchase of NG3 in MSFS should you decide to make that transition later.

Spend $99.99 on PMDG 737 NGXu Base Package? We will take $99.99 off of your purchase of PMDG 737 NG3 for Microsoft Flight Simulator upon that product’s release. Simple, clean, unambiguous.**

PMDG 737NGXu Base Package Release Timeline?: It is already out. Go get it.

    * Discount will be awarded automatically to NGXu purchases made and redeemed only at www.pmdg.com only, at time of checkout during purchase of NG3 for MSFS.
** Discount will offered for a limited time only. NGXu purchase must be made prior to 31DEC19. Purchase must be made at PMDG. Purchase must be redeemed at www.pmdg.com May not be combined with any other offer.

Oh. My. God. This is an incredible announcement to follow on with the previous one (and I can see quite a few people may need to bite back some of their previous words). That purchase option makes this a no-brainer purchase for me. Heading over to pmdg.com now...

Brian, this means that your purchase did not go through. Duplicate error is because the cart is not clear from previous attempt. If you want more info you can open a ticket.

I think that it is safe to say that PMDG has known about FS2020 for quite some time now...

As for the "Driveable TPX200s pushback tug with user controlled steering and speed." Is this the first PMSG plane that this is available in? (just making sure I didn't miss this from the 747!)

...and... to have 100% of this purchase to be discounted off the NG3... Just wow...

                                        Thank you PMDG... Instant purchase!

Just out of curiosity, are the models the same (with the exception of new wingtip models) as the NGX? I'm just trying to get an idea of whether or not liveries for the NGX will work with the NGXu.

No Tim, they are different models. There are plenty of great PBR liveries already available with the NGXu and I am sure lots more will become available in the future.

Thanks, Michael. Someone had already commented to that effect a bit later in this thread. The next 737NGX flight that I was planning to do is a Lucky Air flight, and I wasn't able to find any liveries for this airline in the Operations Center. I was able to find an old NGX livery elsewhere that works, so I guess I will be doing that flight with the NGX.

Flying this now! PBR effects alone make it a worthwhile purchase. Thanks PMDG!

Gonna do my return flight (DXB-CPH) in a brand new plane then. Exciting! Thank you, PMDG.
