PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

12) HAVE FUN: This is the whole point of it all.

The 737 flies amazingly, best handling plane in the sim by far, doesn't respond too fast like other airliners but doesnt seem too big either, things like the flaps and gear retract and extend in just the right amount of time, even the smallest adjustment it noticed and does the corresponding move to plane, amazing work

All I can say is Thank You! It’s amazing and I’ve barely scratched the surface of this beauty!

Also very impressed with the performance on the Series X. It actually runs 10* cooler than say the LVFR A320 products, and no noticeable frame drops. Loaded into DD KRNT and was just amazed.

Now if you excuse me, I need to draft an email about calling in sick tomorrow hehe!

Thanks again Robert and Team PMDG!

Firstly, thank you so much for this product! Beyond excited!

Question for the group, have noticed that using a mouse is a bit tricky. On other planes you'd left click then scroll for up or down (as an example) so cycling through switches would be left click, then scroll for each option.

I noticed that I've got to be bang on with where a click because it will move that switch to the position of the mouse.

Is this something that can be customised within the FMC?

Just finishing my first ever flight in the 737-800. First and foremost I would like to thank everybody at PMDG for finally bringing this beauty to Xbox and its community. I came across one pretty big bug along the way however. For some switches (most notably the barometer), it would select it (highlight it in blue) and nonstop turn in a direction. I couldn’t get the barometer to act correctly and had to fly the approach manually while the displays flickered between STD and inHg (which went all the way down to 22 due to the bug). Other than that, I am loving this aircraft, and thank you so much again.

This will happen if you press A and then A again. You need to press A and then LT/RT to adjust the values.

That’s what I thought I did, I finicked with all sorts of buttons and combinations, but it still didn’t make a difference.

I second this. It feels like you have to click certain spots on the switches to dictate which way they’ll flick, and it can be quite difficult to click it in just the right spot. On other aircraft, you can click and hold the mouse button and flick your mouse in the direction you want to flick the switch, which is much more intuitive. I absolutely love the addon so far, this is my only gripe.

Just tested it, it still continues to roll and won’t stop while pressing A and the triggers.

Here it works OK. Pressing A will highlight it yellow. RT/LT will move it to the proper position and then pressing B will exit this "yellow" mode

That’s really odd, I don’t know why mine isn’t doing the same. If it helps it’s the 800 passenger variant. Usually hardware could be the issue but I don’t have it binded to anything that I know of.

Edit: it looks like the STD button does the same, it continuously clicks in and out by clicking A twice.

As I wrote do not click A twice. This will happen. You need to click A once, use RT/LT to set the switch and then B to get out of the yellow highlight option. This is how it works here with default XBOX controller settings.

Hey guys! Couple of hours in! Where can I report a couple of issues I noticed?

                                    - Flickering textures on the EFIS panels
                                    - Can't control the trim wheel with the controller or mouse outside of 3.9 and 4.1
                                    - Big freeze at loading into the plane (10 to 20s)
                                    - Got some CTD trying to load in big addon airport such as Renton addon by Drzewiecki Design.

Other than that guys it's a blast, well done pmdg, incredible job

That is correct behavior. Currently there is no way to update XBOX navdata with Navigraph. We are using Navigaph as provider of Navdata, if in the future there will be a way to update them somehow then this will be offered as an option.

Simbrief will be evaluated when the tablet is out. We do not know currently if the tablet will operate under XBOX enviroment. This will be tested when the tablet is released.

Thx, I'll go report the flickering textures issue

I have been waiting for such quality aircraft to come to XBOX X where we only had the Inibuilds A310 to talk about! Thanks to the PMDG team for working hard and making this possible. About liveries, if I read correctly in the past, PMDG doesn't allow 3rd party to develop them and given that on XBOX we are stuck with what is in Marketplace I hope that you will keep us happy with a wide choice of liveries to use. Unlike others I won't mind having to fork out 5 dollars or similar for them. Desperate for a JAL livery personally but each one will have a own favourite one... Off to spend some money on Marketplace now!

PMDG has no issues with people developing liveries for their products, there's a ton of free ones floating around the Internet.

They probably don't let people make money on them, though, which will be a sticking point for Xbox users.

Correct. Folks can paint all the liveries they want (I've done a few myself), they just can't sell them or otherwise make money off them. I hope in the future MS/Asobo figures out a way for freeware painters to upload their liveries to the MP so all who own the PMDG birds purchased thru the MP can enjoy them as well.

Hi guys, first of all congrats on the great plane! I'm playing on Xbox series X, and I'm experiencing some problems which I didn't see reported by sobebody else. Before takeoff and after landing, all the instruments and screens in the cockpit turn off. However, the plane keeps functioning, and I'm able to fly it. This happened at all 3 airports which I tried (located in Southeast Europe). I hope this will be fixed with upcoming updates.

                                                  I second that.

Great job PMDG, The plane looks very impressive. Looking forward to many hours with this plane.

I'm also seeing issues and have not been able to have a successful flight yeh due to power and engine issues.

In regards the screens going off:

I have the plane setup correctly so know its not.the ac configured incorrectly.
While the power is being provided by the engine driven generator switches after turning off the APU. Sometimes on the taxiout, all the displays and MCP lighting goes completely dark, yet the engines are still running and no master caution or warning lights as the whole flightdeck is dark.

Also, I've had instances where the engines are just spooling down randomly on the upper and lower DU'S N1 @ N2 while the engines are still running on the outside view. There's no thrust available.. and this is all on the ground (so the engines arnt windmilling giving the impression they are running)... Ive also had a few instances of the engines randomly spooling down in the air ( I think it was after Loc or glideslope cature) and all the pmdg failures are turned off in the FMC options so that's not the issue. I also have all the assistance setting turned off in MSFS options.

                                                  Thanks,
                                                  Mark B.

First flight for me on XBOX X and all I can say, what a fantastic work you have done! A part from minor cosmetic fixes like the slight flicker on one of the panel which is hardly noticeable I had an amazing first flight and despite having to learn a lot I worked out some basic autopilot function and landed at YCVR add-on airport which is quite a heavy airport on Xbox. No issues whatsoever for me apart from those cosmetic issues of flickering lights on one of the panels (hardly noticeable unless you really close up on them ) and some difficulty in operating some of the switches from off to on position ( I use a mouse and flight stick on console ). I feel FPS are better than what I used to get on the Inibuilds A310 for example, which could stutter a little at a larger airport like that. Waiting for the liveries next! Thanks!

So my nephew has an XBOX and has always flown the default Airbus. We always take flights together almost every week online as he lives far away. I’d always fly the PMDG 737 on pc (favorite plane) and he’d fly the Airbus. He couldn’t wait to get a “real” plane.

He purchased the 738 this afternoon so we met up at KPHL online. I walked him through the setup prior to takeoff which took two hours 😂. He was getting so pissed at everything you had to do and how different it is than the Airbus. I felt like that ATC controller in the movies talking a passenger down who’s flying the plane.

He was so frustrated by how complex it was and that he couldn’t just turn on the engines and go. He wanted to take short cuts like, for example, not enter wind speeds for VNAV and then would get mad when it wouldn’t follow the VNAV path. Or not switch over the APU GENs and the plane would die. Took 30 minutes to set the IRS because he told me he set the GPS coordinates but didn’t actually do it. I was laughing for the entire flight as he was cussing different things 😂.

Good job PMDG you made a great complex plane that incredibly frustrated my nephew and made me laugh for hours 😂

After buying the 737NG for FSX in 2013 while I was in high school and spending many hours flying it, I just recently got back into simming on the Xbox and it’s awesome to see things come full circle and be able to experience this awesome work of engineering and art. I’m on Xbox Series X and have had flawless flights so far with the 737-800. Just wanted to say thanks to PMDG for the hard work and attention to detail, and most importantly for keeping the 737 alive through all these years.
