PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

12) HAVE FUN: This is the whole point of it all.

    [29APR23] Let's Talk FSExpo!

    Captains-

    Timeline: January 2022:
Evan and Phil from FSExpo called and asked, "if we plan a 2023 show, will PMDG jump in as a sponsor?" Since I had 18+ months to worry about it, I told them yes- hung up the phone and went back to work on the 737.

    Timeline: Present Day:
The simming community is more robust and vibrant than it has *ever* been. For that, we have Microsoft and Asobo to thank because the massive scale of Microsoft Flight Simulator has brought many new simmers to the community- and we are all better for it. I promised Evan and Phil that we would stand behind them with sponsorship for FSExpo'23 because we were already seeing the seeds of this change back in 2022- and having worked with Evan and Phil over a number of years, I think they truly have the right approach toward building a fantastic US Mainland gathering point for simmers from around the world. I have attended a number of trade-shows and conventions in my other capacities, and FSExpo'23 is showing all the hallmarks of being a truly amazing weekend for simmers.

    Timeline: 23-25JUN at FSExpo'23:
PMDG has already committed to FSExpo as a Diamond Sponsor- and we are providing significant additional sponsorship support to the show in other areas to show our support for their ambitious goal of providing the biggest and most robust simming show yet seen within the USA.

I am putting this up here in the PMDG forum, because I hope that you will consider joining us in Houston this year at FSExpo.

    Why should you attend?

Look- lets just put it out there. All of us on this planet have been through hell. I don't need to explain to you how bad it was- you lived through it too. As we emerge from that shared experience, all of us who consider ourselves to be dyed-in-the-wool sim-nerds are also experiencing a rebirth of our favorite hobby thanks to Microsoft Flight Simulator. The community has grown dramatically and the future looks bright and flush with simming technology, hardware and add-ons. The energy in our community is stronger than I ever recall which makes this the perfect time to join your peers at FSExpo'23! (And I've been a simmer for forty years- so I know...)

Naturally you may wonder if PMDG are attending? Of course we are! We have not leased booth space at any show since 2007, nor will we be at FSExpo- but a portion of the PMDG team will be present visiting with many of our friends in the dev community- sharing some laughs with you and maybe even handing out some momentos or trolling our favorite streamers in a friendly fashion.

Will PMDG be presenting anything? In my usual fashion, I need be to vague here. The short answer is: "I'm not sure."

Whether we present something, or not- I do want to take this opportunity to have some fun with all of you. The whole point of a community is to enjoy the company of others- and FSExpo'23 will make a great opportunity to do just that.

So- if you are attending- let us know here. If you plan to attend and there is something you'd like to see or do with us- shout it out.

We will try to incorporate some of your ideas into the weekend- and it will be fun to spend time and have some laughs.

Still not convinced? Take a look through the sponsors and attendance list!

Hey Jim, can't wait to meet a lot of you I only know virtually! I'll be easy to spot on the Expo floor Saturday. I'll be the one who looks stressed that he didn't check all the items he's going to cover in his presentation, and in the middle of it, I'll be missing a file I was supposed to have. LOL
Seriously, I'm going to struggle to stay on topic when presenting, and keeping within that 45 min window.
I mean...give a painter 45 mins to talk about painting, are you kidding? That's like giving an avid simmer 45 mins to chat about their hobby and seeing if at the end, he/she covered everything they wanted to talk about.

Hey Mark! Looking forward to meeting you and all the other PMDG fans out there! I've refined the paint project that I will present, pre-painted the new livery I'll demonstrate and determined some of the cool tricks I've learned that budding painters can use to help them get into this rewarding aspect of our hobby.

rsrandazzo, I'll be there along with my wife (since we live in Houston). It's my first conference and I was very excited to hear y'all were coming. We even booked a B25 ride Saturday morning! Super happy to meet the team and have some fun. I'll be there Friday for the announcements at the hotel, and all day Saturday at the museum. Happy to buy you a drink if we meet up.
    Warmest Regards,
    -Jim Engelke

I will not be able to attend because at that time I have full flight itineraries with my airline. what we lived in in 2020, 2021 and part of 2022 was a nightmare for everyone, war in Ukraine and other conflicts in the rest of the world. a minute of silence for all the victims of the aforementioned.

I hope that attendees like PMDG and his entire team have an excellent time.

I take advantage of it for all those who are going to attend the event. talk to the guys from ASOBO and MSFS to fix all the problems with AI Traffic, ATC etc, etc, etc. and all other bugs that exist in the sim

I hope that PMDG and Rob give news of new projects (B727, B757 & B767) I hope that they can finally give good news on it.

Once again I wish you all the best and that everything goes very well

I will probably go to see all the hardware available. I remember at the Connecticut Expo many years ago, (where RSR gave a great and rare presentation) Quality Wings featured their 787 for P3D or FSX. They had a PC there where people could to fly the new 787. It would be great if you can feature the newly completed 777 or 737 there for people to try out.

send the new guy at PMDG with a lap top and a joystick and wow the crowds. This is the Super Bowl of flight swimming and the star athlete has to show up and show off.

Don't want to get your hopes up, but Robert did say they weren't leasing any booth space, so I don't know what the odds of that happening are. In any event, the 777 is under development, so I don't know if it would be completed by then.

                  Rob, you are indeed vague.

                  Are you...
                  • ... not sure that what PMDG will be presenting actually means "anything" to your customers?
                  • ... not sure which talkshow you will be presenting at the Expo?
                  • ... not sure by nature?
                  • ... only needing to be vague because you are in your "usual fashion" (Hawaii outfit, wasn't it?)
                  • ... not sure if PMDG is presenting anything at all at the Expo?
                  • ... not sure if PMDG is actually willing to present something?
Especially the last two cases trouble me a bit. After all, you are the Top Dog of PMDG, right? So you should know. However, if you are kept in the blind about whether PMDG is or is willing to present something ... well, does this mean you are no longer the Biggie Boss at PMDG then?

                  Hmm..

Well, I came to the preliminary conclusion that PMDG will be presenting a new CEO then. All things considered, it seems the most logical option.

                  Not sure though.

In all honesty, when I read this announcement and all above this part I thought to myself "The expo is in 2 months and Robert doesn't know yet? sure dude... nice try to hype me and make me tune in".. After what Razbam has delivered with their South Atlantic map in DCS I am not hypeable anymore at all. Just my typical "yeah, sure, I'll believe it when I see it. Many simmers though ARE... It's PR, nothing else. RSR is quite experienced and good in PR and subtly creating hype. Sometimes better, sometimes...

Everything booked back in December and will attend this year, if all goes according to plan. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you folks there, saying, "hi!" and then proceeding to run away in my usual introverted fashion.

There are some in Europe as well. The biggest I recon is the one at Amsterdam the FSWeekend at Lelystad. There was one as well at UK at Cosford but had been suspended due to Covid. Not sure if it will resume this year.

Although not that big as FSexpo they gother a lot of devs

Lin- I think you may have misread or misunderstood what Evan said. PMDG is not doing a presentation in private. That would be horribly unfair to our many customers worldwide. I have been asked if I would speak to a few aviation/simulation topics personally from my perspective as a long-time aviator and simmer. The discussion will not be PMDG centered. - RSR
