PMDG Forum Rules

1) SIGN YOUR POSTS. Since 1997, we have asked users to sign their real name, first and last, to all posts in the PMDG forum. We do this in order to keep conversations personal and familiar. You took the time to be here, we want to get to know you. This is one of the few rigid rules that we enforce regularly. We do so because we feel that forums in which users must engage one another personally are generally warmer, more collegial and friendly. Posts that are unsigned will be quietly removed without comment by the moderators, so to make your life easy- we recommend enabling your forum signature so that you never need to remember. Do this by clicking the username pull-down at the top right, then selecting "User Settings." You will find the signature editor on the ACCOUNT tab, about half way down the page. Look for "Edit Post Signature." Be sure to click the "Show Signatures" box.

2) BE NICE. We are all simmers here and no matter our differences of opinion, we share a common love of aviation, computing and simulation. Treat everyone else in the forum with respect even when you disagree. If someone frustrates you, walk away from the conversation or ask for a moderator to get involved. Speaking of Moderators, they prefer not to be treated as "The Thought Police" but if any behavior infringes on the enjoyment of another user or is otherwise considered to be unacceptable in the moderator's judgment, it will be addressed in keeping with our view of ensuring that this forum remains a healthy environment for all simmers.

3) BE LAWFUL: Any behavior that infringes upon the law, such as discussion or solicitation of piracy, threats, intimidation or abuse will be handled unsympathetically by the moderators. Threats and intimidation may, at the moderator's discretion, be provided to law enforcement for handling.

4) BE FACTUAL: When you post, always be factual. Moderators will remove posts that are determined not to be factually accurate.

5) RESPECT COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted material such as flight manuals owned by Boeing or various airlines is not allowed in this forum. If you have questions related to copyrighted material, please contact a forum moderator for clarification.

6) RESPECT PMDG: We love to hear what you like about our products. We also like to hear what you think can be improved, or what isn't working. Please do tell us and we will always treat your feedback with value. Just be sure to treat the team respectfully, as they do put a significant amount of effort into building and maintaining these great simulation products for you.

7) RESPECT PMDG DEVELOPERS: All of the developers will spend some time here. Given the ratio of developers-to-users, it simply isn't possible for us to answer every post and private message individually. Please know that we do try to read everything, but developer workload is simply too high to manage personal contact with tens-of-thousands of users simultaneously. In most cases, members of the development team will stick to conversations in the forum and will not answer private messages.

8) RESPECT OTHER DEVELOPERS: PMDG has always advocated for a strong development community and we have many friends within this community. Every developer offers something unique that helps to make the simming community larger and more vibrant. We insist that you treat our friends respectfully.

9) RESPECT MODERATORS: Moderators have a tough job, and none of them enjoy having to stomp out negativity. If a moderator has to weigh in to keep a thread peaceful, please respect that effort and refrain from giving the moderator any grief.

10) If you require official support for any of our products please open a support ticket through the support portal, https://support.precisionmanuals.com

11) This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of pricing policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, advertising of non-PMDG products, promotion of events, services or products that are not approved in advance by PMDG or any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator

12) HAVE FUN: This is the whole point of it all.

[24MAR23] PMDG DC-6 Updated for MSFS & some XBox Information for both DC-6 and 737

    Captains,

A few moments ago we pushed an update to the PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster for MSFS. This update is very small but is focused on ensuring the DC-6 is up-to-date with the latest changes in the Microsoft Flight Simulator platform.

We are in the process of resubmitting the DC-6 to Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace with a version compatible with both the PC and Xbox, as it was originally envisioned back in 2021. SU12 unlocks the opportunity for developers like PMDG to place C++/WASM based aircraft into the XBox environment- and we are eager to do that with DC-6 since it is already so widely appreciated on PC and has been highly anticipated by XBox users.

Along with this reissue we also addressed one item that PC users will appreciate, in that if you use the GNS430 as a pop-up window, it will now be correctly scaled.

You can get the latest update for DC-6 via the PMDG Operations Center, provided that you purchased it directly from PMDG. If you purchased your DC-6 via Marketplace, we anticipate the update for your version to be available on 30MAR23 via Marketplace.

    XBox Compatibility for PMDG Products:
We are preparing to commence validation and evaluation of the 737 series on the Xbox platform. We currently anticipate that this will be a smooth and straight forward process that should see the 737 available for Xbox before end of April. Given what we know of the MSFS platform, we are not anticipating hitting any further roadblocks, but we need to carefully evaluate the product to ensure we do not find anything unexpected that might negatively impact the user experience across platform.

Our experience moving DC-6 across both platforms has been positively informative- which is the basis for my optimism.

We will keep you posted with more information on this topic as it becomes obvious to us.

Stay tuned and thanks for your support of our work!

If I own the 737-800 and DC-6 on pc, do I need to repurchase to use them on my Xbox as well, or will there be a way to download it for my console free?

Other way round. It's free to be shared between PC and XBox ONLY if it has been purchased through the ingame Marketplace ON THE MICROSOFT STORE VERSION. If it's an MP purchase via the Steam version or via the PMDG Webstore it can't be used on XBox.

What does steam have to do with it? I’m still logged into my MS account in the game so surely marketplace purchases go across both platforms?

Mark1102 that‘s unfortunately not the case. Whatever you purchase through Stean will not be available on XBox.

So, this means the DC-6 will be on Xbox in a week from now?

But also so that Microsoft doesn't give you a marketplace strike now that testing is the responsibility of developers. 😉

I expect devs will err on the side of caution with marketplace releases now, maybe even more so than on their own direct distribution platforms.

That’s optimistic; I half-expect devs to fraudulently check the boxes instead of actually doing testing. I would be surprised if Microsoft legitimately enforces the testing process and clamps down on fraudulent releases.

I know it's nowhere near the top of the priority list, but I'm still looking forward to the unimportant things which are (hopefully still) coming one day, like engine smoke and the in-depth video tutorials.

Hi and welcome to my channel! I'm a Boeing 737 pilot for a European airline and flight simulation enthusiast for many years. I've created this channel mainly to show you the new PMDG 737 for Microsoft Flight Simulator from a professional pilots perspective. It is my very first social media project and depending on how I like it I might expand it at a later point in this. Unless otherwise stated my videos are not intended as tutorials, but as demonstrations what the PMDG 737 can do when flown by a professional. For now sit back, relax and enjoy the flight! If you like my videos please consider a small donation as it's taking a lot of time and effort to create these. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/737NGDriver

It looks like the DC-6 was updated on the Marketplace 30MAR2023, but it looks to only be for PC.

Was this intentional? The initial DC-6 section of the OP gave me the impression it would be also updated/returning for Xbox.

What is the status on the Xbox version, at this juncture?

                                    Thanks.

EDIT: Re-reading that section of the OP, I clearly glossed over the “we are in the process of resubmitting the DC-6…” Dang, I really had put too much hope in today for re-release.

What is the status on the Xbox version, at this juncture?

                                        Thanks.

EDIT: Re-reading that section of the OP, I clearly glossed over the “we are in the process of resubmitting the DC-6…” Dang, I really had put too much hope in today for re-release.
I was the same but I don't mind waiting a little longer.

As was mentioned below, I was only asking because I know they were in the works and half-finished a while ago. I don't *need* them to be able to fly the plane, but I think they would be hugely interesting to watch to learn more about the aircraft systems and the techniques used to operate it

I’m not, personally. But I think the person you replied to initially was looking for a follow-up series of tutorials.I remember watching those when Rob put them out and I believe (*) he says at some point that there will be a subsequent set of advanced tutorial videos.

(*) I generally have a good memory for detail but I might be mis-remembering here.

Advanced tutorials were mentioned and I believe at one point there was even an update on them posted here; I think most of the video work was done just leaving voice overs and editing, but there's only so many hours in the day.

I believe marketplace is/was a bit closed due policy change with 3ed party team. So hopefully next week DC6 flying on Xbox skies!? *crossing fingers*

                                                Hi everyone,

I’ve updated FS2020 and PMDG and one issue I am having and can’t seem to resolve is issues with pushback. I have FS2Crew installed which isn’t working properly, I’ve also tried using the default FS2020 pushback which isn’t working either. When I request pushback the tug pushes the aircraft back for a few seconds and then pulls it forward and keeps pulling it forward. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? Thank you very much!
