Captains,

Back in 2007, PMDG announced that we were officially commencing development of products for FSX. A number of folks committed ritual suicide and decried us as demons for abandoning FS9.
It would be two more years before the FS9 market shrank enough that we elected to cease development on that platform.

Back in 2015, PMDG announced that we were officially commencing development of products for P3D. A number of folks committed ritual suicide and decried us as demons for abandoning FSX.

It is 2021. We just unveiled our first product for MSFS. Go ahead and finish the sentence.

There are a number of folks slicing their innards open and spewing their entrails on the floor in waves of angst over what the future holds. Please do not be one of them.

As of today. THIS day, we still have an active development agenda in P3D and developers working within the platform daily. We have updates pending for the 737, 777, 747 and DC-6 product lines and new products still on the development agenda. In no place and at no time have I hinted that these are off the table simply because we are also now developing for MSFS.

Might we at some point decide that P3D development is not sustainable? Perhaps. But what Prepar3D has going for it that neither FS9 or FSX had is enterprise licensing to commercial ventures. So there is that. Draw your own conclusions.

If you see others creating drama and threatening to slice themselves open in order to add their entrails to the floor of the forum simply because we have announced a product line for MSFS, please feel free to point them to this thread and suggest they take a deep breath and relax.

If they have already succeeded, then please let one of the forum mods know so that we can send someone by with a bucket and a mop to clean up the unsightly mess.

It has been a long time since we have seen such behavior around here- and it reminds me of days gone by. Somehow we all survived them and good ol' PMDG just kept on ticking along.

We will this time too- so just take a deep breath and enjoy the fact that we have many new, happy faces joining the sim community. Growth is a good thing all around.

OH- and please do refrain from engaging in the "my sim is greater than your sim" debates. They are boring and we may start handing out warnings to those who engage in them.

Much thanks,
